I've seen this exact symptom before with DC Twin Sticks. It happened to my friend's Twin Sticks, and I was able to repair them.

However, it is possible that it is just a loose cable, so open the Twin Sticks and check all the connections to verify they are secure (re-seat them if possible), and then test again.

Anyway, the microswitches are held in place both by screws and by load-bearing solder joints. Due to use, one of the solder joints cracked. Unfortunately, those solder joints need to be solid for the controller to detect if the switch is activated or not. :(

You can check if this is the problem by opening up the Twin Sticks, and seeing if the microswitch is loose. You might need to disassemble the left stick somewhat to confirm this, and to check the solder points.

As I said, when I saw this problem I was able to repair it. The solder point had completely broken off of the soldering pad on the PCB, and the pad wasn't heavily damaged. I cleaned the old solder from the switch leg and the soldering pad, removed the damaged section of pad, and re-soldered the connection, and it worked fine. I made sure the screws holding the switches in place were relatively tight, to prevent any movement of the switches and stick PCB.

If the solder pad is totally destroyed, hope is not totally lost. You can scrape the trace connecting to the broken pad, and solder a wire from the switch leg to the exposed trace. The screws that hold the switches will keep it relatively stable, so the stick feel shouldn't be too affected.

Alternatively, you can order the stick PCB for the LS-56-01 joystick from Seimitsu, and adapt it for use in the DC Twin Sticks. The standard LS-56-01 PCB isn't reinforced like the PCB in the DC Twin Sticks, but it will work.
