Me, too. One cool thing to notice is that the stick grip and button PCB are identical to the Saturn and DC Twin Sticks (besides color).Testament/Seven7 wrote:Sorry, love stuff like this, well, technology in general, and stuff like this too.

I think it's supposed to be a poor man's twinstick for the 360.somepunk wrote:My god, what is that thing??
Looks like it'll break if you "Look" at it the wrong way, or breathe on it, or if it starts to exist in some way....

Even if it works I'm not sure it would be usable, since crouching looks difficult if not impossible!Testament/Seven7 wrote:I think it's supposed to be a poor man's twinstick for the 360.somepunk wrote:My god, what is that thing??

Re: VOOT arcade stick pics
MentholMoose,
Thanks for the pics!
Do you know if those are Happ parts in that thing? Or Sega custom stuff? I've been kinda contemplating building my own from scratch, as a side hobby...
And sorry if this is a noob question, but are these sticks 8-way or 4-way? I can't seem to ever tell the difference because both styles use 4 switches, as far as I am aware.
Also, would you happen to know if it's possible to mod a Dreamcast/Sega Twin Stick and replace all the parts with Happ/Sanwa/Seimitsu parts?

Re: VOOT arcade stick pics
They are definitely not Happ. There is no manufacturer info stamped on anything, so I think the VOOT sticks are all Sega.graefocs wrote:Do you know if those are Happ parts in that thing? Or Sega custom stuff?
It's 8-way, with a rectangular restrictor plate.graefocs wrote:are these sticks 8-way or 4-way?
The DC Twin Sticks actually already use Seimitsu parts. The sticks are a variation of the LS-56-01 joystick. Forum member Jumbo has some LS-56-01 spare parts on order from Seimitsu and is going to report on compatibility soon.graefocs wrote:Also, would you happen to know if it's possible to mod a Dreamcast/Sega Twin Stick and replace all the parts with Happ/Sanwa/Seimitsu parts?

Re: VOOT arcade stick pics
To add to that, I imagine the size of happ parts would make it difficult, if not imposable to mod into already existing twinsticks.
I imagine sanwa parts arn't out of the question.

Yeah, Sanwa makes some joysticks that should work:

This forum thread actually has some info on building custom Twin Sticks with the Sanwa parts:

Yeah, but at roughly $85 a stick, it's not exactly cost-effective.MentholMoose wrote:Yeah, Sanwa makes some joysticks that should work:

I'd probrably be much cheaper, and easier (arguably) to purchase some regular sanwa or simetsu joysticks and mod then with grip-handles. There's a website that sells hollowed shafts for specific joysticks made by the two companies.
What was it again? ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;

Re: VOOT arcade stick pics
thanks for the links!
i'm very interested in doing this. the sanwas are way pricey tho.
also, i'm totally clueless as to how i would create the enclosure. i get the feeling that neither happs nor sanwas will fit inside the DC case... and I'm not sure where to purchase just a hori box.
i think the happ trigger sticks might also come out cheaper. I get the feeling you can just purchase on of those 8-way happ sticks, and swap out the handle with their trigger handles -- i might be wrong.

Trigger stick part's list. You probably don't want to buy the whole thing since it's analog and very expensive. But then again, I don't exactly know how the wiring of the 2 buttons on each handle get fed down the shaft... this exploded view doesn't exactly show it and i wouldn't know if the standard 8-way sticks will allow this.
