Re: Thoughts on a properly new VON
Destructable environments have only not been entirely so because of limitations to capacity to make everything so. It's of course not impossible to do, it just takes time to set up everything to work like that, as the physics tend to be different for every object based on its composition, center of ...

Re: Live match spectating on VOOT xbla - could they patch it?
I think it could be done. So long as the host/opponent is first priority, broadcasting to a spectator might lag behind a bit but I imagine it wouldn't cause serious lag overall with a decent connection. Then if there are multiple spectators, the code could have one spectator broadcast to other spect...

Re: Articles covering VOOT VER.5.66 for Xbox 360
Indeed. And while it may seem contradictory that I posted a list of things I'd want in my "Dream Virtual On" game, I fully expect Sega to figure out that it's the VOOT gameplay and such that they should work off of for a successful sequel.

Re: Thoughts on a properly new VON
Well, those two things, destructable environments and extra camera angles are meant mostly for outside the traditional arcade stuff--things you'd see in the various kinds of story mode ideas that one could have. The destructable environments in an open area would be mostly useful in setting up one's...

Re: Articles covering VOOT VER.5.66 for Xbox 360
Oh, I liked PSU to some extent too. But it wasn't what the game could have been, even if they chose to hold back and release the game for PS2. It has a lot of repetitive missions and skinned monsters last I played, though, which I found okay for PSO but I was hoping they'd have expanded more than th...

Thoughts on a properly new VON
I'll pose the question first so you don't have to sift through my rambling: what would be the most perfect bundle of features and gameplay you'd consider in a Virtual On successor? It doesn't have to be realistic, of course, because no one from Sega's going to see this thread and critique on what th...

Re: Articles covering VOOT VER.5.66 for Xbox 360
I hope they both see it and properly interpret it. It's one thing if they realize why people like this game, and so it's good that they're doing the survey and such--so either they release other stuff like OMG, or they begin building the next Virtual On game that's a proper successor to VOOT with th...

I'd only ever seen it done with Raiden, but upon remembering its use my score attack score surged forth quite a bit.somepunk wrote:It's often overlooked, even by me, I believe the technical term is selective fire, a few CW on other VR (such as Cypher's LTCW) can use it as well.

Re: advanced techniques
Another important Raiden move is being able to launch just a single laser beam. When doing any CW, hold one trigger and release the other. The released trigger's dish will shut off and you'll only fire one beam. Damage is the same as with a twin beam, and you recharge in significantly less time. Do ...

Re: Senko no Ronde Rev.X
Given that I'd only played for a few days, I honestly don't remember how I played or what I learned, knowing I made it through some levels fine but some with some difficulty. I certainly know I did play with a few people, but they shared the same sentiment as me and dropped the game faster than I di...

You can also go to archive.org and input the link to her now-defunct site; they've saved a bunch of revisions of her site that holds everything but any downloadable files, I was looking at it just the other day.

Not having a 360 I am unable to participate in this momentous occasion, but im listening and observing. Oh what!? I thought you had one! No wonder you're pretty active on the boards, you don't spend the time on VOOT ^^; Are you gonna grab a 360? Some of my old arcade/DC VOOT buddies are going...

Even with being too young to go to those tournaments and actually meeting people, I certainly remember her site as being one of the first websites I came across in my Virtual On searches.RayBladeX wrote:Tirah Dragonfire (anyone remember her?)

Re: Senko no Ronde Rev.X
I have Wartech, I'd played a few characters' story modes. I'd also heard it was like Virtual On when I purchased the game. I don't see the connection to Virtual On though, beyond the little tidbits of controls. From what I remember, the game felt very strange to play, like I was sliding all over the...

Re: Share your VO experience or history
In a ranked match, sure, you're all about the wins--so if you can get the lead, it's fair game. I still grumble when Angelans do it to me in my Raiden, but I'm since timing my dashes a bit better to get back. Anyway, if the person's jumped into ranked matches without really knowing what they're gett...

Re: Post your questions here
After you've customized a VR from the main screen options and saved it to your hard drive, there's a VMU in the back-right you can select in arcade or score attack and then you can choose your custom VR. Once you select it, I believe, you instantly get the points.

Re: Share your VO experience or history
I feel you on the Temjin thing for Marz. That, and the array of Vox VRs, without a lot of love elsewhere, was quite a letdown. Which I found extremely disheartening given how much I enjoyed the series when it started, I almost thought the series could only be helped by going to the PS2. I never mind...

Re: Share your VO experience or history
Man, I think I really missed out on something--I've never been a long trip away from Seattle or Auburn until college, though it seems I was a bit too young to attend most of these events in their heyday anyways--parents sure weren't going to take me anywhere to play a video game.
