Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

Pessimism fuel: a release on PS Vita is not indicative of a game meant to be played with twin sticks

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

I haven't read or seen any of the LN or anime, but I still can't get over how bizarre this crossover seems. Can anyone shed light on what kind of game we could expect? I guess the most optimistic outcome is an OMG/VOOT style 1-on-1 arena mech combat game with VRs piloted by anime characters? And the...

Re: EVO 2016

Was the response just about the cabinets? Or is it not even possible to set up a couple of consoles?

Re: 3/26 (3/27 in Japan) International Tower Challenge

Thanks for hosting Porcupine, but I'll be honest: I think you need to get more of a handle on these events. Both the team battle and yesterday's tower suffered from a lack of planning, a lack of coordination, and even a lack of caring on your part regarding what the rules are, who does what, etc. We...

Re: EVO 2016

PPX, Moose and I should set up a mini tower. Have people pay $5 to challenge us, and if they beat all three they get the whole pot (would have to start out at some number). Would require a hell of a lot of advertising leading up to the event on various FGC boards and communities so people know there...

Ouch. Thanks for the translations. If I had known they'd be watching and judging, I would have put in more effort.

Re: EVO 2016

The more I think about it, the more an EVO gathering/tournament seems like something worth trying. The cabinet sounds cool, but I'd probably hope the tournament is played on console since I can't use twin sticks.

Re: Location Thread?

I was in Texas until a couple of years ago, when I moved to the Seattle area. My latency with the Japanese players is noticeably better.

Tournament ideas going forward

Adding to Porcupine's thread here: http://www.oratan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1592 The Winter Classic was a smashing success, but as always there's room for improvement. Broadcasting The area with the biggest room for improvement, I think, is around broadcasting . We had three streams, but ...

Re: Team Battle or Tower Challenge

I'd be more interested in a team battle than a tower challenge, I think. Joining a Japanese tower challenge might be fun, but I think hosting one among ourselves presents too many difficulties. Chief among them: (1) a 7-person ladder would necessarily consume all our top talent, leaving few people w...

Re: 1st Annual Oratan.com Winter Classic

I've updated the OP with a link to the Discord (chat) server I think we should use for communication before and during the tournament

You don't need to join it right now, but the more people we have in here during the tournament, the more smoothly things should go.

Our Japanese friend Katenasasosu will be joining the tournament, and that I'll l probably be his translator that day. Just one thing, the tournament is happening 3AM Sunday in Japanese right? He'll have to sign up on Challonge for the grouping and matching to work. The time is on the infographic in...

Re: 1st Annual Oratan.com Winter Classic

Thanks for the stream offers, guys. That'd be great! I was hoping to keep the group placement as random as possible, but maybe I can keep it semi-random by placing a streamer in each group with the other entrants randomized (unless we get more than two Japanese players, in which case they'll probabl...
