Re: Dordray Thread

i wrote that strategy guide a long time ago, based on ver 5.2 i think-- don't put much stock in it, i've learned a lot and much has changed. Here's what i realized: Dordray has a lot of problems. the list of attacks you should NEVER use is longer than the list of good ones. but i still like Dordray....

Re: Post your questions here

I was questioning why to prefer LTCW over cCW as cCW does more damage and they are both four homing laser attacks. my bad, didn't realize there was a damage difference and i recall it feeling like like it took longer to get out of cCW so i always used LTCW. sounds like cCW is better actually. you w...

Re: Post your questions here

To get to the next level, keep your defense but become aggressive, staying at mid range and closer and using pressuring no-commitment attacks, like walking RW, LW, and half-cancelled LTCW. You mean half-cancelled cCW or is LTCW's animation shorter or something? LTCW shoots the "4-way missiles&...

Re: Post your questions here

Cypher has low armor and high mobility. So your first rule is to not get hit. That must be your priority. Don't commit to an attack unless it's safe to do so. in your air dashes, never automatically attack, always know what the opponent is doing and where you'll land in relation to them first. you h...

Re: advanced techniques

Also BARREL ROLL :!: that's Dordray's Dashing Close Combat Center Weapon attack. (or Dash CC CW-- while dashing, pull back on stick(s) and pull both triggers.) you can do this while rotating, so you turn sideways and thus widen your attack area. contact with any part of your body does damage, not j...

Re: Japanese Tournament on Sunday, August 2

Where can we find the replays? Not many of the players seem to have uploaded their replays. Bolded matches are the ones I'm missing. DUMuranus (Bal-Series) vs hiroelza (Temjin) tatsuketekureeee (Apharmd B) vs tonosama123 (Apharmd B) Wild Esoteric (Fei-Yen Kn) vs x396 jpn (Bal-Series) suma124u (Raide...

Re: advanced techniques

the watari dash thing is interesting... like a lot of what Watari came up with, it seemed like sort of an experiment. it definitely broke some of the "purity" of VO:OM, especially with the drastic changes of direction, like 90 or 135 degrees. and with curve dashing in the mix too, it's ver...

Control Schemes?

Apologies if this has been discussed-- I looked around and didn't see much.
What controller setup are people (ESP. those who used to use twinsticks) using for the 360?

Re: Share your VO experience or history

Wow, so many old school names showing up on here. I guess it's my turn. Ok, I first played VOOM on a visit to Japan in 1995(!) but i was completely mystified. Later I found a machine in Seattle at some random arcade and used to go and try to figure it out. My pathetic Chicken Dorkas style was having...
