Re: Shooting through bombs

Okay, you're gonna get what you want, Mr. Porcupine. You have my sincere apologies for the rolling eyes icon and the tone of my post on May 19th which set this thing off; they were out of line and I should have voiced that differently. However, your post speaks volumes about your own unability to de...

Re: Shooting through bombs

What I mean, I've observed while playing VOOM (PC - perhaps that matters?) that attacks sometimes seem to go through bomb explosions and hit the enemy hiding behind the explosion and post this to this board (as I may do). Then you post that that is not the case at all, yet in the last sentence of th...

Re: Shooting through bombs

We just tested this in VOOM and there are no attacks in the game that can fire through enemy bombs. If you thought there were, you probably fired too early, too late, or missed the bomb in some other way. Also, if you are inside the enemy bomb anything you fire will travel through (this is unique t...

Re: Is There A Way To Play Virtual On On My PC?

I thought PC VOOM didn't work right under XP or Win 7?

In any case, it doesn't properly support USB-based game controllers, AFAIK. Not even under a actual Win98 system (you need a game port-based device).

For LAN play, both sides need their own VOOM CD-ROM.

Re: The official Virtual-On model kit thread

As for Hasegawa, their Virtual On blog has not been updated since last december, so unless they have a surprise announcement at one of the upcoming hobby festivals I think the line is dead (apart from reissues).

Re: VR health values in VOOM

Have you experienced the bug yet where dashing FW into your enemy makes you end up staring at the sky (well, a blue screen that looks like the sky with the targetting sight/distance thingies visible and nothing else), firing weapons gives the sound effects and nothing else, and your enemy's weapons ...

Re: VR health values in VOOM

Against Viper II, both Temjin and Belgdor have 1000 HP, with his standing and forward dash CW doing an even 250 damage. Side dash CW does 180 damage, back dash CW does 150 damage, jumping CW does 225 damage, standing and crouching LW do 150 damage (for one missile hit), jumping and back dash LW do ...

Re: VR attribute comparisons

Then I don't understand how it's possible for Viper II to get hit by Raiden's lasers full-on and die, while he survives when only one beam hits him...I will test that some more (in the PC version).

Re: Graphics and sound review for xbox VOOM, VOOT, and Force

(Meanwhile on PC, VOOM was changed to render in 640x480 but at 30 fps, which I heard could be upgraded to 60 fps with some hacks). You don't need a hack to do that. There's four different combinations of two options, one of which gets you hi-res and high FPS. The hack with the debug-menu appears to...

Re: VR health values in VOOM

One thing that might explain the strange results with Bal-Bas-Bow is that there's something weird going on with his hitbox (the area that needs to be hit to cause damage), which appears to be smaller than the actual VR. So you can fire your weapons at him or do a CC attack that by all means ought to...

Re: SEGA Has Taken a Huge Loss, Turning to Online Sales

Yes it would. Is why I am working on because I don't have confidence SEGA will make/port over decade old (latest iteration) game for such a small audience. VOOM should be easy to port, since a PC version exists. If they'd add the extra contents of the PS2/Saturn/Arcade versions + PS2 3D models + re...

Re: Buying items from Japan

I've had good luck with Shopping Mall Japan's Special Order service, to order items from shops whose online presence is no more than a mid-1990s looking ancient website. Of course, the fees ain't cheap, but that is offset by the fact that those websites sell hugely discounted rare resin kits... Usua...

Re: Latest Find!

Should be around 15 cm tall, but it's quite complicated. Something to keep for later, when you've completed many more plastic models (Gundams or somesuch...) and a few simpler resin kits. :D Wave's 1/144 kit is even smaller, but at least that one doesn't include a working center weapon assembly (on ...

Re: Shooting through bombs

Firing through the opponent's bombs is also possible in VOOM, that's what I meant with "- of course it also works the other way around if you have homing weapons". Most bombs are not very useful, IMHO. Some VRs can jump/fly over bomb explosions...

Re: Shooting through bombs

This is also present in VOOM (PC version is the only one I've tried...), even being a stock tactic for the CPU (throw bomb, shoot through bomb explosion at you while you can't see the CPU-controlled mech - of course it also works the other way around if you have homing weapons). AFAIK, in VOOM it de...

Re: MegaHouse D-Spec Temjin 747J

So, having received this thing just today, my verdict: - Very articulated, with ball joints in various places and a lot of swivel joints. Some joints, such as the neck joint that allows the head to swing from side to side, have a somewhat dubious design. In the case of the neck joint, it's not place...

Re: The official Virtual-On model kit thread

I let out a sigh of frustration at the end because I'm a model kit casual that has only built Bandai kits thus far. TBH, resin kits are often less dificult to build than a lot of Master Grades (less parts), but the prepping of the parts and finishing is more important. However, casting quality is v...

Re: VR attribute comparisons

EDIT 2: Hm, I took a Raiden laser to the face while stationary and got the full 420 damage, then took another while in mid-CC motion and lost 336 (80%). Seems these values might have changed for 5.66. EDIT 2.1: Hm, seems Raiden's lasers are a bit inconsistent. Sometimes I only take 40% damage from ...

Re: The official Virtual-On model kit thread

the boosters on the Volks Temjin are also made of some pretty small parts, I made a "short" video where I put one together. the Wave kit looks a bit more stylized in terms of proportions, though it's still closer to the game than the Kaiyodo figure (which looks terrible imo). I have an is...
