Re: Feeling the love ^_^
I haven't posted on many different video game forums, but in general it seems like niche games have more civil communities. Maybe there's a feeling of solidarity when you find other people playing something most people have never heard of. Plus, on average, I think VOOT players are a little older, a...

Re: Official Twin Sticks displayed on Hori site
for $300, I would like something that feels extra hefty. I've never held an HRAP before, but I imagine it's plastic and doesn't feel as heavy. If it's anything like the Tekken 5 HORI (which I own) than it's a heavy-ish plastic base, possably a metal top plate (the t5 stick has a plastic top-plate i...

Most of this stuff is already in my profile, but what the hell: Name: Dave Gender: M (like 99% of VOOT players, I imagine) Location: Toledo, OH Nationality: Really, really white Hobbies&Interests: Shmups (some favorites being Dangun Feveron, Parsec47, Gunbird 2, Raiden Fighters Jet, Ketsui), puz...

Re: Bragging Rights Oratan Tournament Summer 09
Me too. Although all that happened was that I lost to DeltastrikeX and anikingVOOT, which would have happened anyway. Hopefully you guys saved the replays! I should invest in a headset. In addition to being the only guy that can't talk, I only understand maybe 10% of what you guys are saying. It's l...

They might have just been using Quick Match. I don't think Quick Match cares about rank much, if at all.Purple-Tamjin wrote:OH yeah like a general or something challenged me as just starting out, and I'm like oh you just want an ego stroke don't you?

Re: VOOT Youtubes
Lately I have been going through the replay leaderboard and saving their replays and upping it on YouTube. I was going to up mostly Specineff matches because that's who I play as so I could study what Specineff can do in certain match up. You might want to check out my uploaded replay then. Like I ...

Re: Good Games/ Bad Games Thread
Agreed -- TrueSkill rating + better quick matching (based on TrueSkill rank) would be nice. I just wish Quick Match would keep trying to find people instead of giving up after 10 or 15 seconds. And since I have such a low success rate trying to pick opponents manually, lately I've mostly been sitti...

Re: Good Games/ Bad Games Thread
I did pretty bad this weekend as well, my overall win/loss ratio dropped a bit at least... 313 W 132 L now. I did reach Brigadier General already though. You're down to a 70% win percentage against people your rank or higher? How catastrophic. ;) I wish they used TrueSkill or something similar in t...

So that Bal player from PA I played against today that played exactly like you was... you? I should have guessed.DeltastrikeX wrote:It was fun playing you at my friend's place under his GT

I think you engage in CC more than any other Bal player I've come across. Maybe AphB is really your guy.DeltastrikeX wrote:I have a really bad habit of trying to play at close range with bal.
I wouldn't have a clue about how to use Bal effectively, but isn't he designed to be used mostly at long range?

Re: Official Xbox 360 Twin Sticks ¥30,000 in November from Hori
I can't imagine, even using the most expensive sanwa parts, that this controller should cost this much.... The ones MentholMoose linked to are 8,500 each, so two of them would account for over half the cost. Assuming 100 yen = 1 USD (for easy math), that leaves $130 for the rest of the parts. For a...

Re: Official Xbox 360 Twin Sticks ¥30,000 in November from Hori
After further review, it looks like it breaks down like so: Used DC sticks from Play-Asia: $140 after shipping 360 controller for PCB: $40-50 after shipping That means that the parts alone will cost $200. Now imagine that it takes someone 2-6 hours (that they could be spending working, earning mone...

Re: Official Xbox 360 Twin Sticks ¥30,000 in November from Hori
Hori aren't really renowned for making top-of-the-line gear, they have a few shockers on the market but overall I guess they are better than Madcatz in general. I guess it just depends on what parts they are planning on using. The Hori sticks with real arcade parts (Sanwa, Seimitsu) are generally c...

The best part is, right before that match I was thinking, "I like playing against this guy. We both use the same VR and we're pretty evenly matched." It doesn't get much more even than that. That's the ONLY draw I've had in my 1000+ matches.

Re: Official Xbox 360 Twin Sticks ¥30,000 in November from Hori
Are modded twin sticks still going for like $250 on YAJ? If so, a $300 price tag for new sticks (as opposed to $250 for ones that are 10 years old) only seems moderately crazy, not super crazy. On the one hand, I can see charging a lot. The number of potential customers is very low, so they have to ...

Holy crap. Imagine what the price would be after shipping to the US.
And I thought the Hori Death Smiles stick was expensive!
EDIT: But still, I have to give them credit for making them at all.

Witness a Specineff vs. Specineff ranked match with a 3rd round draw (because we couldn't hit each other worth a damn in the 3rd round )

Re: Saturn vs Dreamcast Twinsticks
I have both but I'm too lazy to dig my DC out of the closet to try them out. Supposedly the DC sticks are better at returning to neutral, making Watari dashes a little easier. Is this true? I don't remember there being too much of a difference, although I remember the DC sticks feeling a bit clickier.
