Re: VO Music Covers

Not bad. I'm only listening on crappy monitor speakers. Long ago when it wasn't that easy to get import Japanese merchandise, I got into a bidding war with someone on ebay for the original VOOM soundtrack and made him pay hundreds of dollars for it. Then a few weeks later I won the same thing on eba...

Re: Possible PS4 Twin Sticks

While there is nothing that can't be worked around, this game is made for controller pad. Presumably the added freedom in walking and rotating in unusual combinations is not going to be utilized on twinsticks. A few actions such as controlling the SLC and aiming lasers inside the startup animation a...

Re: Virtual-On: Operation Moongate PC Port Update

To my knowledge no one has tried to do this sort of thing, though it would be great, not just to change the VR data but simply to see what it is. I wanted to try this eventually but the release of Magical Index Virtual-On has delayed my plans by several years, and it's looking like it will never get...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On mechanics

Here are techniques and mechanics mostly applicable to all versions which I did not discover or hear about until later on. Close Combat VRs with 2-hit CC strings can recover from the first hit quicker by inputting the second hit as early as possible then immediately canceling it into a dash, jump, o...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

Things were looking up at first but both the japanese and overseas populations seem to be dying. It was only a few weeks before the ranked lobby would be completely empty at certain times of the day (player lobbies existed only during certain times from the start). Now the player lobby usually only ...

Re: Shooting through bombs

Napalm is quite useful in Virtual On Index, particularly with veteran mode Apharmd S players who like to forward dash inside their napalm, which matches speed perfectly. As far as I can tell, napalm is impenetrable in Index. It even blocks other maximum priority things like Bal jump CW and jump RTCW...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On mechanics

Patch 1.02 had to be released to fix the Temjin DLC color bug, but also came with balance adjustments. Many of the actual changes I found were different than than the patch notes describe, partially due to translation error. Plain jumps in smart mode appear to face the enemy throughout but actually...

Re: PSN Online IDs

I refused to go to the emergency room despite being unable to move for a few days, because I had to play this game online for the first time! I was forced to go several weeks later and x-rays revealed multiple fractured ribs and pelvis in addition to whatever muscle damage I sustained. But as I expe...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

Too early for our tournament, we haven't established enough players yet, some of us have yet to play online, and several of us don't know how to use our PS4 well yet. I don't even know how to use the PS3 online that well. I've never used the microphone, and while the built in streaming is nice, ther...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On mechanics

This game released with a day one patch. Here are the changes to version 1.01 that I've noticed. Glitch watari only works in CC range. Blue Stalker was always this way since release. Distance melee can only cancel after hit frames, but can also walk cancel. Blue Stalker updated to walk cancel. CC ha...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On mechanics

Now that the actual game is out here are changes in the release version that I've noticed. The backward transition dash bug has been fixed, except on Raiden. You can watari dash once in the air, the same as on the ground. Walking speeds drop as the distance to a locked enemy decreases from 200 to 10...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On mechanics

Here are some mechanics and general ideas that were more appropriate to discuss later. Walking Since walking does not get slower with distance, at close distances walking in veteran mode tends to be about as fast as a transition dash, slightly slower than a plain dash, and faster than most dashing a...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

I had the same question earlier, the Tutorial is under Missions and completing it is necessary to unlock some titles and get platinum trophy for the game. I decided I'm not going to back up my 1.01, I would have done it had I not accidentally updated Fate/Grand Order VR game to version 1.01 too and ...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On mechanics

Here's my very early guess at a tier list based on an unfinished single player demo. Apharmd S He is unbeatable, for he can crash the game anytime in just one second by simply doing a backward transition dash. I'll keep the input secret for now but it's easy and can be deduced by anyone who studies ...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

Damn, although 1.01 saves are compatible with a raw 1.0 install, the replay files are not. This means all replay files up until now will be useless since you can't choose which version to patch to. Also, this means patch 1.01 will become rare, so I'll have to change my plans and re-patch to version ...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

Since I haven't bothered to open mine, can you check what the theme is like and if it says it expires? There is another recent Magical Index Virtual-On theme in the dengeki magazine which Varryo got. I'm wondering if it's the same one.

Re: PSN Online IDs

My Japanese PSN account is Porcupine-VO4 but I've only have one 2 day trial on it this weekend. Afterwards I plan to rollback the patch and finish unlocking everything offline for a week. Unfortunately I just hurt myself really bad in the middle of playing this game and I am trying not to go to the ...

Re: A Certain Magical Virtual-On

I got my FromJapan shipment on February 26 as well. They forwarded it a bit late but I'm not complaining. Their service is practically free. They packaged it similarly to my earlier order of figures from Chara-Ani, so now I'm wondering if the Japanese manufacturers usually package this way, or if th...

Re: Xbox 360 online player roundup

I like VOI but it looks kind of like VO1 which could be confusing. I also just call it Index sometimes. I've seen others call it ACMVO. It's probably going to end up having multiple acronyms, like Force and VO4, VOOT and OT, VOOM and OMG.

Re: Anyone interested in going to Japan to get the new VO game?

It was a pretty good trip. If anyone else wants to go to Japan anytime, I will be up for returning if you think you can put up with me. We hadn't expected it, but Silber Live picked us up from the airport, introduced various players, and showed us around almost every day. He paid for a lot of our me...
