http://godsgarden.jp/info/3552/ finalized entrant list I think. Very excited for this, I'll try and watch all the matches live.
I have a feeling we won't be seeing another VO tournament as big as this (unless SEGA does something crazy)

Who knows, maybe they'll fix Marz in 3 years then announce a new VO in 6 more years.

For some reason it never occurred to me to ask this until now, but since this is an online tournament held during normal popular hours in Japan, if people randomly decide to play VOOT for fun during that time, are they going to be seeing the tournament players in the lobby? What happens if non-participants unknowingly challenge them? What if their Friends send them messages, isn't that going to screw up their concentration? When neoken showed me a list of players for the other recent online tournaments, a surprising number of the Japanese players on my Friends list appear to be participating in some of these.
How do they organize this?

They just play in invite-only party lobbys, of course not in player match lobby (how would you even record/stream without observers?). Though I think in at least one previous tournament they had a system where every player uploads the match they lost and some matches were done in public lobby to speed it up until the top 16/8. Messages might distract some people but you always have the option to turn all notifications off when your matches are starting.
BTW, another event with exhibition matches for all three games coming up in less than two months: http://youdeal.co.jp/virtual-on/ (I like how the SEGA logos at the bottom accidentally link to capcom )

Re: God's Garden (Japan) Tournament for OMG, VOOT &VO4 7/25-
Tournament appears to have been won by a Battler player whose path to the championship was as difficult as could be. In succession, he had to defeat a powerhouse trio of what would probably be considered the best Fei-Yen, then the best Cypher, then the best Dordray.
Now I don't feel so bad when I lose to Battler anymore. And since apparently Battler is a good mech, Fei-Yen's supposedly good matchup against him and Grys-Vok's supposedly bad matchup against him become more meaningful.
It was like Zaarock said, I may have recognized two-thirds of the players in the video. I think that if we train all day and night for three years we could be worthy competitors too, but we need everyone to be active.
The video is only like 10 fps for me or something. Is it like that for everyone else too?

Is there video of this online? I wasn't able to watch the stream due to the time difference but I'd like to still see it.

Re: God's Garden (Japan) Tournament for OMG, VOOT &VO4 7/25-
might as well turn this into a tourney thread heh. I'll update my last post when there's updates on the youdeal one
Another VOOT online tournament coming up on 25th of august: http://voot360.blog46.fc2.com/blog-entry-115.html
Starts 8pm japan time and stream will be on twitch.tv/sakuri_193
Curiously there are english fields on the application form, maybe those are a remnant of the couple times that US players joined

Turns out none of the V.O whistling tournaments have been uploaded anywhere, so I put up the oratan tournament on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JorW2cbNFO8Zaarock wrote:I guess someone will upload the matches to nicovideo too.
Most entertaining tournament I've seen so far honestly, was very fun watching through it again.
Doesn't seem to be any video footage of Espoir's tournament from december.
Seems like there's a similar arcade version tournament being hosted by tenga_chan in two months, 'Tenga Cup' (lol)
edit: replays of Tenga Cup now available here: http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/43412275
