Oh wow, this snuck up on me. I've been too consumed by the DBFZ train as of late.

For those going physical, where are the rest of you buying from?

I went with Sega's Ebten store. It had the best bonuses.

Day one patch and DLC: mentions a balance update (?) and bugfixes.
http://vo-index.sega.jp/topics/20180213_02.html

The most important DLC is the DNA/RNA colors from Oratorio Tangram for 540jpy.
There's also 5 separate additional story scenarios at 162jpy each, and something that makes all unlockable content available immediately for 108jpy.

Watari mentioned in a previous interview that "of course there will be dlc, we don't want to overwhelm the player with too much content at first. We are thinking of slowly adding more content starting with VR colors." This is a bit earlier and contains a bit more content than I expected.

And Chex, I think the colors are 540 yen each for DNA/RNA side.

I pre-ordered my PS4 version from Dengekiya using the FromJapan proxy service.

Wow, that's some impressive DLC right there. Is there any info on how to obtain the DLC? I doubt it'll be as easy as pre-ordering the game through a proxy service.

Only 2 days to go! Woo!

It's all done digitally through the PlayStation Network. That's how it's been for the past two console generations.

This means you'll need a Japanese PSN account.

I think I can get one of those, despite me having a US PSN account already.

Also, even though it's still February 14th here in the US, I'm seeing stuff on places like twitter and the Dengekiya store saying that the game has already been released right now in Japan. I'm pretty sure that means its already the 15th in Japan(I know about time zones).

Lastly, shamanic_beat, when you said "540 yen each for DNA/RNA side," did you mean "540 yen for each VR color scheme," or "540 yen for DNA and 540 more yen for RNA?" Or did you mean something else?

Most likely 540 for DNA and 540 for RNA.

Also, midnight JST is 9 am central on the previous day (without DST).

Game's up on Japanese PSN:

That is correct. I'm looking at the PSN store right now and it is indeed 540 yen for DNA and 540 for RNA.

They toned down quite a bit of the wacky **** from the demo, like being able to cancel melee startup into a dash instantly. Damage feels a bit lower, and VW doesn't charge nearly as fast.

Just paid for my Discipline 55 boxset from Amiami  Hopefully the CNY holidays doesn't screw up the shipping process...

So just like we saw from the pre-release FAQ page, control rebinding only allows for buttons and you're stuck with the default dpad/left analog scheme.

...but what's this?
https://twitter.com/t_twinstick/status/ ... 3384317957
A company called Tanita is apparently making twinsticks. This company makes...scales and thermometers?

Before the game's release, there were a bunch of videos showcasing Watari and Tanita's president playing Oratorio Tangram on the Dreamcast with twinsticks, then the new game with the DualShock 4.

1080 yen for all the colors seems okay I guess. If it was for every VR that would be terrible.

DNA Temjin is actually a story completion unlock that everyone gets, so even though the DLC has him on the icon it really has everyone except him lol

There's currently a bug that a few people with the color DLCs are experiencing, though. Completing the story gives Temjin his fourth color in character select but it's just a second entry of the default 1P color.

My package arrive today... and man that artbook is packed. Too bad I can't read any lick of japanese because it's filled with lots of interviews and behind the scene stuffs, as well as the entirety of OMR and FP stories. That booklet is Amiami's bonus- just a mini movelist/manual thingie
Image

One thing though...is that all known characters were redesigned into that weird trippy-moe design language.

For example:
Here's Anbel IV
Old

New

Here's M'my Salpen
Old

New

There are also images of Yzrman (apparently it's actually 3 girls, with the initials Y,Z and R), the Rose Sisters and Orizuru Ran (apparently translates to spider-lily, also the pilot of the Green FeiYen CH). Really weird stuffs. If you guys are curious I'll take pics of them later, just let me know ;)

And here's that Ice Doll that were the basis of the Angelan series. Seems that the VO universe is waaaay much weirder than i thought it was 20 years ago

I think the manual/movelist thing is a bonus across every retailer

It was, and even though it was explicitly described as a pre-order bonus, it wasn't. As long as you buy one of the initial copies, you got the booklet. The same was true for all the store exclusives, which weren't always explicit on whether they required a pre-order. Even all the store workers in Akihabara were wrong. We went around asking all of them in Japanese if we had to pre-order to get the store exclusives, and they said yes, and that it also had to be done online, and was long sold out.

But just as in America they didn't have any clue what they were talking about and when the game released, there were tons of bonuses to go around. However, many stores sold out of the exclusive items within a couple days.

Does this game not require a PSN subscription or is there a free weekend going on right now?

I just played a ranked match without a paid account.

EDIT: I guess it's just a Japanese PSN thing right now. I can play online on other games too but only on my JP account.

Been enjoying this a lot. It really is Oratan 2 for the most part..

A couple sets from this first week I thought show the game pretty well:
Unlockable VR (spoilers) vs Temjin
Bal-Bados vs Angelan
Not much melee focused play though. That's pretty common with smart option apharmd series & temjin.
Japanese players are putting up a bunch of videos and tech for most VR.
