What system you prefer to Play Virtual-On with?
What system you prefer to Play Virtual-On with?
What is everyone's preferred system of choice for playing Virtual-On games at home.
For the sake of Argument, I am assuming everyone's first choice is the original Arcade Cabinets.
For those who don't know, these are all the systems I notice that can play or support a virtual-on game.
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast
PlayStation 2
PlayStation 3 (backwards compatible models)
Xbox 360
PC (Cyber Troopers Virtual-On PC version for Win 95/98)
PC (Emulation)

For me it has to be the Xbox 360. I've only ever been into VOOT, and the Xbox 360 version is arguably the best. For it simply is the best version since I can play online against great opponents.

360 version. Arcade version looks ugly in comparison. Significantly improved lighting, higher resolution, widescreen, as well as online play!
VR: Bal-bados, Angelan, ALL.

Ok, I see your guys points. The Xbox 360 Voot have better graphics than the Dreamcast/Arcade versions.
Saturn version took a huge Handicap from the arcade version of Cyber Troopers Virtual-On.
Problem with the PS3 playing PS2 games is they are still using PS2 Graphics.
My only issues with the 360 is that the 360 version of VooT is a XBLA download with no retail copy, and the only official Twin-sticks are a $400 Japanese Import.
Thus often Gamers make/ mod their own custom sticks. Also their is no mention i found of a US version of Virtual-On Force.

There is no announcement for Virtual-On Force yet. Its the 4th game in the series.

Saturn/VOOM, DC/VOOT, Force
Personally I prefer the 360 version. HD support, customization options the DC version lacked, nicest twin-sticks.
If I ever find the arcade version nearby for cheap, I'll prefer that.

Re: What system you prefer to Play Virtual-On with?
Yeah, Force is Game 3. There was a lot of confusion since the marquees had giant "4"s in the middle so it read somewhat like "Virtual On 4: Force", but that referred to the fact that it was 4 player. I know a lot of people that saw the cabs at the time were up in arms about how they missed "Virtual On 3" =P
Re: What system you prefer to Play Virtual-On with?
Opps my bad. ^ _ ^ Although I remember playing a rare Oratorio Tangram arcade game in a out of state mall as a teen, I only remembered it as Virtual-On.MasterFygar wrote:Yeah, Force is Game 3. I got it some how mixed up with Marz and the games were introduced to me out of sequence. I was introduced into the series in this order, so I got confused
Oratorio Tangram (got introduced to in the arcades)
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On (OMG a Saturn version too)
Marz (friends actually talked me out of this game for the PS2)
Force (What a 4th game?, wait this is part 3? I am confused )
It is almost as bad as players getting the US and Japanese Final Fantasy game titles mixed up; due to US localization renaming of 2 of the SNES titles.
FF II was really FF IV and FF III was really VI

It's not really the 4th game in the series it's the 3rd because Virtual-on Marz is the 4th in the series loldarksakul wrote:There is no announcement for Virtual-On Force yet. Its the 4th game in the series.

I finally got a chance to talk to him again. He fudged it a little bit... we went from "twin VOOT cab" to "mint condition 1P VOOT cab" to "good shape 1p VOOM cab with a VO2 board" We're looking into a group buy of real ones, though I have to convince him to trust the one shady chinese site I could find them onAkuma_from_Germany wrote:You gotta convince him to post pics of that one on hereMasterFygar wrote:360, hands down. I'd say 360 hands down. Not only does it have the most up to date versions of the games this side of pirate bay, it also has the best controller AND VO:Force now! The only thing that beat VO on the 360 is the arcade cabinet but that kinda goes without saying...

Re: What system you prefer to Play Virtual-On with?
From what I've seen and heard, the PS2 port of OMG is really good, so that would be the best if OMG is your favorite in the series. The PS2 controller is probably at least as good as the 360 controller, though neither compare to Twin Sticks which are not (officially) available for PS2. The 360 is the obvious choice for VOOT or Force fans since the ports are good, Twin Sticks are officially available (though extremely expensive), and they have ONLINE PLAY! Maybe this last point isn't as big a big deal in Japan, but for me in the US it is really the deciding factor.Dinkleseed wrote:I'd say 360 hands down. 360, as that's the only system that I've played Virtual-On on.
I'm now VO:F ready, bring it on!
VR: All of them.

360, thanks to the netplay.
Re: What system you prefer to Play Virtual-On with?
Dreamcast as I've only played it on that.
