Official Website Updated

Post by Comrade Pete »

There's a couple of new articles on the website http://vo-ot360.sega.jp/index.html

One details a couple of bugs they've found so there may be a patch coming & the other has details of gamerpics & a premium theme which should be out today 20/5

edit: they are indeed up now @ 250 points each. Just downloaded the theme - pretty smart.

Official website was updated again. Good news and bad news.

Bad news first - they're still holding off on any official twin stick developments.

Good news - Title Update goodies!

Graphics tweaks
Controller setup tweaks (ie. rotation for standard setup)
Added controller vibration events
Customization options - can now customize Cypher's jet model, Fei-Yen's hyper mode and Bal's variant modes

...and wait for it...

SPECTATOR MODE in Xbox Party Lobby of the player match! Chat with each other in the lobby while you watch your two buddies pummel it out :D

Of course they still have to submit this to Microsoft's certification process and will announce when the title update drops...

I have to say, not even a month since release, and we get solid info about a title update, and not just bug fixes, but new features. I have to say, I'm impressed with Sega's dedication to this title, official Twin-Stick release info not withstanding.

Even if Sega doesn't release Twin-Sticks, the fact that they took this long to make the decision is pretty good (in a sad way). A quickie "no" would seem uncaring.

The new lighting option is interesting.

I went over the article briefly. Though most of the points were covered, I should briefly cover them myself as well:
  • Spectator mode for Xbox LIVE parties
  • Shadow and lighting upgrade (3D models remain the same)
  • Vibration added for Raiden Armor Break, Giant Dordray, Ajim Self-Destruct
  • Customize Mode added for Fei-Yen Hyper, Cypher Fighter, and Bal series variants
  • Standard can now use D-Pad, can also rotate now while moving (bugfix)
  • Fixed how transparent Public Port was not being selected on random select

I can so see the mind games that are possible with color-editing Fei-Yen's hyper mode.

I'm pretty sure they'll have that gold locked up, so you'll probably end up just being able to customize the whites and the stripes on her shoulders :p

Hopefully with the better lighting, customize all black VR won't be as annoying to see especially on the night stages. Dordray's claw and drill are practically invisible! LOL

That would sorta kill the entire point of being able to edit colors for hyper mode, though.

Well it's not like it really matters, you already know the moment she drops to 50%, it happens. plus the sound effect and the visual effects.

Is the new lighting option supposed to make it look more like the Model 3 version?

I haven't seen the Model 3 versions in a while, but I remember being a little brighter and a little different then the DC/Naomi versions. The normal 360 version's shading style is more like the DC/Naomi then Model 3, so such an option would be good. Thoughts?

Old lighting.

I'm just happy to see that Sega is giving this game the support it deserves. I need to find some time to finally mod my DC or Saturn stick, 'cause playing with the 360 pad just ain't for me! :geek:

And yeah, Long Shadow....new lighting FTW!

I fully expected Sega to drop the ball on this game. An update of any kind is great news to me :D

The weekly column update has three news items:

1. We can expect an announcement regarding Twin Sticks soon, possibly this week! They are supposedly in the final stages prior to the announcement.

2. A magazine in Japan has extensive coverage of VOOT this month. They say this is good because there is no marketing budget for VOOT.

3. VOOT sales beat their expectations!! Hopefully this is a good sign that Twin Sticks will be released.
