I'm looking into making a custom Twin-Sticks in the distant future (6-12 months), but I can't find where to purchase new sticks specifically. I remember https://www.akishop.jp/ used to sell them prior to their site upgrade. Should I scout out ebay for older ones, or is there another site I should find to buy new parts?

Are you looking for the Sanwa JLJ-PL2-8V?

Sanwa JLJ-PL2-8V
It is an expensive niche item so I'd assume Akishop doesn't stock any, but they can likely still get it if you contact them. Another place to try is Focus Attack. FA has sourced parts by request for me before. Let us know how it goes.

To add more.
When I was searching for TS, came by these shops but didn't attempt to buy:
https://na.suzohapp.com/products/joysticks/
http://www.arcadeshop.de/Sanwa-Joystick ... a_852.html
tops-game.jp http://www.tops-game.jp/pa ... .htm[url] arcadeemulator http://www.arcadeemulator.net/cgi-bin/s ... :Joysticks

BUT I did... 2 years ago, buy a new pair of JLJ-PL2-V8 from http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/499-l ... ise-arcade who contacted a warehouse in Japan and got me 4 of them. They also said there was only a couple left in the warehouse after my purchase. They no longer have it listed "special order" on their website.

the Sanwa JLJ-PL2-V8 seem to be the best available out of what you can still potentially buy new and I believe that's what Hori uses for the bases in the 360/PS3 twin sticks. unfortunately the grips are completely different and the Sanwa grips look like crap IMO. These are also crazy expensive I usually see them selling in the $100-$120 range without grips.

the LSX-57 looks like the bases from the Saturn/PC/Dreamcast twin sticks... cheap but again, no grips.

Suzo-Happ made the original sticks in the OMG twin units it looks like they make/sell an updated version of the original grips (found on a lot of machines, even today) but they don't offer the 8-way bases anymore, just the analog variant.

Honestly if you want quality, and precise sticks you're looking at the expensive JLJ-PL2-V8 and by the time you buy the sticks and the rest of the materials to build the thing you're up in the price range of buying a Hori or an arcade panel. legit VOOT/VOF sticks do pop up, you just have to be willing to pay when they do. I think I've got 7 of them at this point.

If you're just looking built for cost reasons you're probably better off modding a Saturn/DC twin stick (nice grips and good precision but low quality bases) or buying a used set of OMG Twin unit sticks (ok grips and super durable but very heavy and not as precise). I see them sell for around $25-$50 a piece when they do pop up.
