Video capture options

Post by MentholMoose »

For anybody who is capturing video of VOOT (or other Xbox 360) games, what hardware and software are you using?

CRAZYDAZED was using an Intensity Pro from Blackmagic Design to capture HDMI (see his VOOT Youtubes thread). I was using the same card, their Media Express program to capture, and Adobe Premiere Pro to edit and encode. However, my card just died and the warranty is expired, so I'm looking for a replacement in the same price range (under $200).

The StarTech PEXHDCAP ($120 at Amazon) looks very interesting. Besides HDMI, it supports VGA which would be perfect for older systems (in particular I'm thinking about Dreamcast and Naomi).

There are some sample videos on Youtube of VGA captures from the StarTech PEXHDCAP. The quality is reasonable so I may pick one of these up.
