JP DC VOOT Extras update!

This is a child topic to the one I started back in November about the Field/Model viewers on JP Dreamcast VOOT.

A little over a month ago I found out another way to enable extras on Japanese Dreamcast VOOT on a Dreamcast Emulator other than Demul: NullDC, which doesn't take up a whole bunch of computer resources, like Demul does.

This way is much easier and doesn't require disc swap at all. All you need is:

1. At LEAST a basic understanding of how Dreamcast hacking works,
2. NullDC Emulator(preferably v1.0.4, since that's what I use),
3. A Wired Xbox 360 controller,
4. Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram .GDI(Japanese version),
5. A little tool called Chankast Cheater, which I have graciously provided as an attachment to this post.(You'll need a file called MSCOMCTL.OCX in order for it to run, though. Just google it, and put it in the same folder as the Chankast Cheater executable file.)

-------------------------------------------------------

The (new) Actual Hacking Process:

1. Open up ChankastCheater.exe

2. *IMPORTANT STEP!* Before opening up NullDC, make sure to rename the nullDC.exe file to chankast.exe, otherwise the Chakast Cheater tool won't work at all when you open the emulator.

3. Open chankast.exe. Assuming you've chosen all your desired emulator settings(controls, graphics, etc.) Go to "File>Normal boot,"and open up your .GDI image of VOOT.

4. After the Dreamcast Logo has appeared and the game starts to load up, go to "System>Stop." This will pause the emulator.

5. Go back to the Chankast Cheater tool. Click on the button in the upper right, with the "refresh" icon on it. This will automatically create a temporary entry for VOOT in the dropdown box at the top of the window.

6. Add whatever code(s) you wish to use. Type them in the text box near the bottom of the window. The codes MUST in the following format: Description, followed by a space, then the first half of the code, then another space, followed by the second half of the code. An example would be: Enable Infinite Life(P1) 00CF9EFA 00000001

7. After each cheat is entered in the text box, press the green "plus" button at the bottom right of the window to add it to the code list. This must be done after each time a cheat is entered.

8. After you've entered all the codes you wish to use, click on the floppy disk button in the upper-right area. This will save the changes you made to the code.ini file.

9. To activate the cheats, click on the square directly to the left of each cheat. Then click on the "trainer is off" button once, or until it says "trainer is on." Then go back to chankast.exe and go to "System>Start." This will un-pause the emulator.

10. Have Fun!

More info to come...

I have another update about the Field/Model Viewers. This is a just in case for anyone who hasn't been able to figure out the controls for the Viewers. I've managed to create 2 charts detailing the controls for both of the Viewers. These 2 charts are based on the assumption that you have an Xbox 360 wired controller hooked up to your PC and that all the buttons are correctly mapped on NullDC emulator.

Here is the chart for the Field Viewer:

Code: Select all

Field Viewer Controls Chart

------------------------------------------------------
Button/Button Combo: | Function in Field Viewer: |
------------------------------------------------------
L Analog Stick Up | Move Camera Forward(Fast) |

Not a problem. Just trying to make a good contribution to the Virtual-On community. :)

Yeah, I noticed that on all of the Virtuaroids in the model viewer. Strange, isn't it?

I think they all had Saturn V-Converters in the initial arcade release of M.S.B.S 5.2, and they were changed to Dreamcasts in 5.4

Yeah 5.2 VRs have Saturns, 5.4/45/66 have DCs. The DC version does have a 5.2 mode, but it is a little odd that the model viewer shows those and not the 5.45 models. Maybe there is an option somewhere to see the 5.45 VRs.

Somehow, I don't think there is an option to see them. Otherwise, there's an extremely high chance that I would have stumbled upon it by now.
