VOOT with HDR lighting.

Post by neoKEN »

Instead of some weapons lighting up and glowing, how about everything?! :D

I'm not good with MS paint.

You will need to get:
1. NullDC (dreamcast emulator) http://www.emudev.org/nullDC-new/
2. Virtual On Oratorio Tangram ISO http://snesorama.us/board/archive/index ... 35135.html
3. HDR plugin http://forums.ngemu.com/nulldc-discussi ... nside.html

Put the HDR plugin in NullDC main folder. Run NullDC and make sure to set the video plugin to "chankast."

Thanks for the pics. It's too bad the plugin requires the outdated Chancast plugin. Does the plugin have any options?

Also you can use Alt+PrintScreen to only capture the nullDC window, instead of capturing the entire screen and cropping it. Also you can save a single screenshot in Paint; after opening Paint, resize the image to a small size (e.g. 1x1) in Image > Attributes, then paste your screenshot. Paint will change the image size to the exact dimensions of the screenshot.

For multiple screenshots, save the first image, then paste new screenshots on top of it and save as a different filename each time. If you want multiple screenshots in one image, after pasting the first screenshot, resize the image using Image > Attributes (e.g. double/triple the height or width depending on what you want), paste the additional screenshot(s), then rearrange each additional screenshot to the correct position after pasting it.

I could never get my Dreamcast emulators working right. FPS was always wonky. I'd be runnig 60fps then it would drop to 15fps and just sit there. I couldn't play Virtual-on or tech Romancer becuase of this.

***Note: I have hard copies of all games I emulate***

What emulators did you try? Also do you have a reasonably high-end PC?

Hmm, is that using a Sempron? I think that is a big low end for nullDC, although it's strange that you would get 60FPS for a while before dropping to 15FPS. In any case, with VOOT you do have to adjust the settings in nullDC for VOOT (check the readme). There are other DC emulators out there, too, such as Makaron. IIRC VOOT does work with Makaron.

Virtual On is incredibly GPU and CPU demanding. This game push the Dreamcast to its limit. On PC, I use to only play on Sanctuary in 2 player splitscreen because that was one of the least power demanding stages at resolutions above 480p.

The HDR plugin is even more cpu demanding. I have a Intel Dual 2 GHz processor. I could only get 20-30fps or so with an ATI X300. Now that I got a new videocard, ATI Radeon 4670, I can run this game in 1440x900 resolution with max detail at 60+ fps. Too bad I can't take advantage of it with the HDR plugin. Dam you chankast plugin!

I made one of Virtua Fighter 3 as well. Windows 7 MS Paint is a big improvement over the previous paint.
