What, specifically, doesn't make sense? It's pretty cut-and-dry.

You say that to actually beat someone, you have to get their health down to 0%
If you don't get your opponent's health down to 0%, then you didn't actually beat them
So if I'm playing against someone, and I am losing
And it is unlikely that I can get their health down to 0%
Then I should run away
Because if I run away, and my opponent is unable to get my health down to 0% before the round ends
Then he didn't actually beat me

I was stating the fact that your explanation and example makes sense to me, not that there's a piece of it that doesn't makes sense. Now that I think about it, we both misinterpreted something the other posted, thought it was what we typed that made it confusing. Damn... this is a mouthful.
I'm now VO:F ready, bring it on!

Lecter5656 (bal-bados) vs (fei-yen) on Unholy Cathedral stage

If people don't play bal-bados then this match might not make a lot of sense. Fei-yen is an incredibly difficult matchup for Bal-bados. Not only that Unholy Cathedral (UNC) is the worse stage for Bal-bados. Double the pain! Bal-bados depends heavily on obstacles and UNC has the least of them.

Most notable is toward the end of round one when he lands reflect lasers. It's an even riskier move than rapid lasers since reflect lasers you are immobile in the air for a very long time.

I should know this :x, but what is that song playing in the background? I know it's an old NES game, either one that I owned during childhood or maybe borrowed/rented a lot.

I'm pretty sure it's from one of the Ninja Gaidens, or something by Konami or Capcom, maybe Nintendo, but that doesn't really narrow it down.

japanese apharmd B vs neoKEN (bal-bados) : Shrimp combo with death sauce!

The infamous and deadly bal-bados dashing melee shrimp combo. Often a bad idea to challenge apharmd B in close combat especially expert battlers, but in this match it paid off and I was rewarded with ~87% DAMAGE!

Yeah, having that much destructive power is scary, though, more subtle than Jaguarandi.

Akisame (specineff) vs (apharmd S): Long range characters fighting at point blank range.
Incredible reaction, dodging and shooting each other at such a close range. Remind me of that movie (don't recall the name) with guns where they are standing near each other, shooting and dodging faster than the bullets.

It's either Equilibrium or The Matrix, as they have the same thing that you described.

Shift Hedgehog (temjin) vs neoKEN (cypher) : Air Melee Combo

This game, I wasn't trying to win. My entire focus was getting close to land the cypher air melee combo in an actual match. As a result, I made a lot of desperate mistakes and ran into attacks. This match happened the same day I learned how to do the air combo. Thanks to Shift Hedgehog for participating  .
