US-International Tournament 2

Post by Schooly D »

UPDATE: The tournament is over! The winner: Emperor of Wu! Congratulations!

Image

It's that time again!

The 2nd US-International VOOT tournament!
DATE: Sunday, November 1, 2009 (provisional)
TIME: 6PM Eastern (provisional)
If you would like to play but cannot make this date/time, let me know!
LOCATION: Xbox LIVE
FORMAT: Single-elimination tournament, random seeding
ORGANIZER: Me, School to the D!

OPEN TO: Everyone! All skill levels are encouraged to participate!

RULES:
- Players will declare which VR they will use when they sign up for the tournament. They have until the release of the seeding to change their VR
- Once the seeding has been determined, a player will not be allowed to change his or her VR for the duration of the tournament
- Game settings: 80-second rounds, 2 rounds to win, 6 observers
- If a player is not online when he is supposed to play, he will be given 5 minutes to show up, otherwise it is a forfeit
- If a player is online when he is supposed to play but is not responding, other matches of the round will be played until he returns. If he is not back by the end of that round of the tournament, it is a forfeit
- In the event of network problems, 1 rematch will be granted. In the event of another network problem, the tournament organizer will decide the outcome
- The tournament organizer has the final say in all matters. But don't worry, I'm a real nice guy

PROCEDURE:
- A player will register for the tournament by giving his Gamertag and VR
- Registration is open up until one hour before the start of the tournament
- Players will be seeded randomly into a single-elimination bracket
- Everyone gets onto Xbox Live and loads VOOT
- I will run the tournament party. This is where all matches will take place. Any matches played outside this party are invalid and do not count
- Players will be invited into the party when it is their turn to play
- Non-players can stay in the party and observe, but I may have to make room for people who are due to play
- This will continue until a winner is determined
- The losers of the semi-final matches will play each other to determine 3rd and 4th places

PRIZE:
- The winner of the tournament will have bragging rights as the best VOOT player outside Japan
- The winner of the tournament will also be entered into an elevated seed in the Japanese tournament on Saturday, November 7
- The Japanese tournament begins at 8AM Eastern, so if the winner is not interested in waking up that early he may pass the invitation to the 2nd place finisher

Also, I should add, the current date and time are extremely provisional. I want feedback from everyone who can or can't make it. The early start is to accommodate any European players. I know the 31st is Halloween and everything, so people might have parties and other such obligations. If you want to compete but can't make the date/time, let me know! Sunday is also an option!

Yeah, I'm thinking Sunday would be better. I just wanted to get it done in October, but I guess it doesn't matter.

I hope I'll have finished my TwinStick for that date.

Oh, I'm French, what does "6 PM Eastern" means in GMT ?

Since we would both be out of Daylight Savings Time by then (it actually ends on November 1), 6PM Eastern would be 12AM midnight your time.

"12AM midnight" ôo
I didn't got that, is it 12 AM or midnight ?

My twinstick is almost finished, some small things to fix but it works great, so I'll participate to the tourney. I'll train a bit before choosing the VR I'll use.

Count me out. I'll be out of town that Sunday and I'm not sure what's going on on Halloween yet. Not that missing out on yet another first round loss is that big of a deal.

3PM Eastern.

Although I'm beginning to wonder about the time. My main reason for having it so early was so the European players could play, but none of them are signing up. Hmm.
