1st Oratan.com Single Round Robin Tournament <Void>

I've only gotten Two entries for the tournament so its safe to call it a no go for the tourney.

I thought if it was played first as a round robin then a single elimination afterward it would generate some interest with the prizes in mind. I went to my stream channel that I stream regularly at deep gamers to try and generate some interest and that place gets quiet a alot of people as well as a few irc channels I chat in.

That wasn't enough, and I feel disappointed at myself for not trying to dig in deeper enough. I did had a set schedule for round robin matches to ensure consistancy but without the players needed to measure the times there was no way I alone would of made a ideal set time for matches to be held regularly.

Ill just have to try harder next time if I want to host a Tourney, thanks for trying to fill in.

I'm confused. Is the tournament on Feb 1 or is that just the start date (i.e., Feb 1 through Feb 28)?

Feb 1 is probably a no-go for me. I plan on capitalizing on a free birthday dinner at some restaurant or another.

My uncle has passed away, and I will have to lend emotional support to my mom and help to manage all of my uncle's belongings. Regretfully, I will be away from VOOT indefinitely. I will not be playing in this tournament.

This ultimately disappoints me for some reason, I thought I reached out enough to get more people in but I didn't, and with the deadline closing in and how things are getting, this might be a null and void Tournament.

I didn't bother to post on 4chan's /v/ board, mainly cause I got tired of that place back then.

(1) It's an unfortunate truth, but VOOT is all but dead. I can't even get people to acknowledge VO.org.

(2) The registration method's a bit weird. You might have gotten a couple of people if you allowed registrations via this thread and via XBL messages.

(3) Some people might not be comfortable with a month-long round robin tournament, just because it's different.

Another rookie tournament might be in order. Advertising here doesn't work since no one comes to this forum anymore. So the only way to advertise is to hit other places (4chan, SRK, NeoGAF, etc.). But the only people you'd get at these places are rookies. So the only tournament you could have is a rookie tournament.

I wouldn't mind putting on another rookie tournament. I have a couple new ideas to help boost attendance. PM me if you'd like to get in cahoots.

We're still getting hits... it's been pretty flat for 6+ months and not much of a decline. Of course it's way down from the peak.

People just aren't posting that much. I guess we could get some more posts with something like paidforumposting dot com.
