Rookie tournament 2 & and veteran tournament
Whelp ladies and gentlemen pretending to be ladies, it’s that time of year again.
Summer Tournaments 2010

With the price drop that happened last month we got a huge (okay it’s more like twenty guys, shut up, that’s not the point, it’s a metaphor) influx of new players. Since we had a very successful Rookie last time I thought to myself let’s do it again. There have been some slight modifications to the rules so make sure you read them.
RULES
• A microphone is required
• You can only choose one VR for the Tournament
• This will be streamed live over the internet be on your best behavior
Prizes
1st Place: $50 gift card to Best Buy
2nd Place: $25 gift card to Best Buy
3rd Place: 1 month Gold
Time and Date: Not set yet

Re: Rookie tournament 2 & and veteran tournament
These rules seem pretty useless.. why give an advantage to beginners who have played mostly player matches instead of ranked. Twin sticks dont have a big advantage vs the 360 pad and I'd imagine its negligible with rookies.neo helbeast wrote:RULES
• There is now a maximum rank limit of Master Chief
If you are a Lieutenant or above YOU CAN NOT ENTER THIS
• Twinsticks cannot be used

Re: Rookie tournament 2 & and veteran tournament
Point 1: That rule is in place to keep the general skill level on the same level and differentiate between the two tournies. I may change the ruling if it proves unpopular.
Point 2: To cut down on the complaining. This way there will be no whine-fest about how it's "unfair". I know it doesn't make that big of a difference, I've posted this in someplaces, well, this is my feelings.

Point 3: Lalalalala I can't hear you. *puts fingers in ears*

whew new trailer
Re: Rookie tournament 2 & and veteran tournament
Oh good, I come back in time to make this maybe. I don't know what rank I am though, I should have not played ranked lol.
If I do enter, I'll need to win, so I can use the prize money to pay for the mic I need to buy now lol.
Anyway, I'll post again to confirm if I'm joining or not.

I'll sign up. Using Specineff, of course.
As far as the rules go...
- It's hard to cap people for the rookie tournament. Like Zaarock said, going off of rank isn't really fair, but I guess it's the only objective measure we have. The only other thing I could think of would be to allow anybody who hasn't participated in a previous tournament. You could probably make an exception for the last batch of rookies, since I don't think any of them became regulars. You'd probably have to make an exception for the winner though... "Two Time Rookie Champion" doesn't quite sound right.
- Not allowing twin sticks... do any rookies even have twin sticks? And how will this be enforced, anybody who manually rotates or uses a lot of curve dashes will be disqualified? Can they use the twin stick setting on the pad?
- Requiring a mic will surely help the logistics, but two things come to mind:
* Last tournament's winner didn't have a mic, just an example of preemptively disqualifying good players
* That eliminates CrazyDazed

Point 1: the rank cap was an attemp to keep the player skill in the same general vacinity. Again I may remove the cap if it proves unpopular.DeepInTheHops wrote:I'll sign up. Using Specineff, of course.

Point 3: I will make exceptions. It's only to make staff cutdown on legwork. I.E. Typing messages.

Re: Rookie tournament 2 & and veteran tournament
Allright some updates. Final tournament dates are June 19th for the rookie tournament and june 26th for the veteran tournament. With that I need to ask that everbody edit in their post which tournament your playing just so I can get this right. Last thing, I am rescinding the twinstick and rank cap limit.
Re: Rookie tournament 2 & and veteran tournament
Vet tournament, Cypher.
I can't make Rookie (unless something goes horribly awry [kind of]).

Re: Rookie tournament 2 & and veteran tournament
What I meant was, I could have typed ?????/????? as my sign-up post and you probably could have filled in the blanks. BTW, I don't believe it has been explicitly stated, but I assume we are using normal tournament parameters, i.e., 2 rounds, single-elimination?
