Themes and gamerpics. Not sure if they'll even be available to the North American marketplace.

They have some legal issues with using the red cross symbol on Angelan, so they changed the design a bit.

Angelan - I'm very sorry.

The only difference is the color of the cross, right? Ah well, no biggie. You'll be seeing Angelan's back most of the time when playing, so it's not like it really matters. :)

This reminds me of Earthbound, where they removed all red crosses off the hospitals when it was being localized.

And the Red Cross hasn't stopped there, either.

The Force website just released an 8MB 23 page pdf file for the artbook sample.

You'll see it here: http://vo-force360.sega.jp/index.shtml#2010120301
Or if you want a direct link: http://vo-force360.sega.jp/images/news/ ... sample.pdf

They also got a youtube video of some guy singing one of the bonus track in that first link.

And the huge 16.3m Temjin poster won't be up until mid December.

And not just the standard OMG music, but the classical (that's what "arrange" stands for) version that was a bonus on the official soundtrack!

The official website just revealed that Virtual On Oratorio Tangram will be available at a discount price of 400 MSP during the period of Dec 14th and December 27th. Though I wouldn't start advertising about it yet since I don't know if the discount is Japan-only or not. It's not really Force related, but I don't feel like making a new thread on something that may not even concern the North American marketplace.

Force seems like it'd be fun to play. Of course, I probably won't even scratch it if it never breaches American shores. It still seems neat to watch. In fact, I'll go ahead and do that now.

On an offside note regarding the VOOT discount that we don't know will apply to us as well... *rolls d20*
Area to remain blank until I stop procrastinating.

I preordered the Asian version. I'll try it with an American console when I get it, but if it was going to be region free I think they would have said so by now. :|

Er, the game having a region doesn't mean it's region locked. Dunno where you guys got that from :p

Dave is right, sega would've probably said something about it being region free by now. I'm pretty sure they know that there is an american VO community.

The VOOT discount has started, and it looks like its Japan only.

Famitsu have reviewed the game:

Virtual On Force (XB360, Sega) - 7, 7, 8, 7 - (29/40)

Seems pretty comparable to VOOT. Hoping it comes to the West.

For comparison, Dreamcast VOOT got 39/40. Maybe if Force came out 6 or 7 years ago, it would have scored higher.

If VOOT got less than 40/40, their opinion doesn't mean much to me anyway.

Given that it's just a port of a relatively old arcade game, those scores are probably as good as could be expected. The 360 Cave shmups were very solid ports of the arcade originals, and they received similar scores IIRC.

According to a post on the gamefaqs boards:

"One of The Sega guys said there are no plans for a US release on Destructoid's Justin.tv channel"

Sad but not unexpected news indeed.

Now I just have to carry on holding out hope for a PAL release!
