PS4 ports announced!

OMG, Oratorio Tangram, and Force are getting ported to PS4! This might be part of the reason Tanita's twinstick Campfire has restarted with a much lower goal.

Surprised no one is talking about this. Very excited to play VO4 again and actually learn VOOT.

The VO collection was announced the same day as the SEGA MODEL2 collection so there might be some info in January, along with a release date. I'm predicting sometime March, since the 15th will mark VOOT's 20th anniversary, but we'll find out soon I suppose

I hope the ports are cheap and come out technically improved or correct. Xbox VOOT graphics are too dark, PS3 VOOM has slightly weak graphics (color subsampled, various 2D images look like jpegs), and PS3/Xbox VOOM have some sound issues (overly loud death explosions compared to the original).

I wish they would release a PC port. In any case, the announcement says it is download-only, and I would guess Japan-only. How do we buy this in the US?

You'd have to create a Japanese PSN account and buy some yen cards.

I think the account bit is easy enough to do through the PS4 itself, by creating a new account and setting the language to get you to the right store page.

I use SEA Gamer Mall for yen cards since they have a lower markup compared to Play-Asia or JapanCodeSupply, but a number of people I've talked to seem to have issues with it if they're not using PayPal.

Somewhat on-topic.
At the time of writing this, SEGA is conducting an online survey (US residents only)
https://games.sega.com/survey/

While there are no questions specifically for VO, you can fill out "Cyber Troopers Virtual-On" in the "Other" section.
Maybe it will help increase the chances of the PS4 ports releasing outside of Japan. ;)

I'm too cheap to buy Gold or PSN+ aside from scrounging for trials or tricks. Except for the time I bought that Mikoto Misaka swimsuit VO Index for 17809 yen plus 5000 shipping and 300 proxy fee. Turned out that was a good buy, because while the game became cheap quickly the Misaka swimsuit poster never appeared in any of the usual places for resale. Pretty cool, but I don't know if I'd buy some of these titles for the 3rd time now...

Unless... Anyone hear of any rumors of PC port(s) floating around for later VOs?

I keep on telling myself that if I squint a little bit, maybe I can catch the Steam logo that I missed at first glance (or any other PC digital distribution medium logo)... :P

I can't imagine it'd be that much work for Sega to port it over to PC...
