Newegg.com - Gran Turismo 5 Playstation3 Game SONY
Must... resist... ARGH
Interesting that apparently it's a simultaneous worldwide release. For GT 1 through 4 I bought the Japanese version (and a Japanese PS/PS2) so I could have it sooner.

Re: What are you playing?
Speaking of racing games, a new game has popped onto my radar, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. It looks like it will be the spiritual successor of Burnout (since Criterion is developing it) and a rebirth of the Need For Speed series by returning it to its roots. And since I love Burnout, I am probably going to get this. Anyone familiar with Burnout's "Road Rage" mode will feel right at home; the Cops have to take down the Racers before they get to the finish line by using special weapons such as spike strips and roadblocks. The Racers get evasive weapons such as radar jamming and boost. Looks like fun for you arcade racers out there. Meanwhile, you GT5 lovers can have fun driving at 60 mph in your plethora of antique cars while braking every 10 seconds and memorizing the perfect driving line for every car on every track.
Although I must admit, GT5 does look tempting even for me, one who has basically abandoned racing sims forever. I'm probably going to rent it just to experience its greatness for a little while.

Also speaking of racing games, Crazy Taxi is coming to XBLA at some point. I loved that game, although I ended up getting good enough that a single run would take over an hour... so much for being a quick pick-up-and-play game. I remember building up a callus on my index finger from all the limiter cutting... good times?

Can we all yell "YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH"?
I'm looking forward to CT as well. Right now though, I'm playing Red Dead Redemption, Halo Reach and the occassional game of Blur.

It's also been a very Halo week. Which reminds me, we need a oratan party in Halo. And we need to find a way to get Aniking to play.

I'd be down for that. I never really have incentive to go to the team games just to play with randoms.

You did win that bet where if you beat anikng in one match of VOOT, he'd play with you on Reach. I'm expecting to hear about that when it happens.shamanic_beat wrote:It's also been a very Halo week. Which reminds me, we need a oratan party in Halo. And we need to find a way to get Aniking to play.

I won the match, but Aniking didn't accept the bet. He would rather play single player campaign than to play with me.

Why would we? While it may look "kiddy," it's still a fun game.Temjin747K wrote:lately I've been playing Gotcha Force and Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal. Don't make fun of me if I said that I played Gotcha Force

Had been playing Valkyria Chronicles 2 on my PSP. Clocking in on around 110-ish hours of gametime, which is awesome.

Re: What are you playing?
Crazy Taxi is now out on XBLA, and it's just as fun as I remember it.
Despite being popular during the Dreamcast era, I don't think most people really got what this game was about. I think a lot of people just saw it as a novelty (haha, I knocked over a bus; haha the priest said I was "one hell of a driver", etc.). What really drew me in was the sheer rush; this is by far the twitchiest, most hectic racing game I know of.
PROTIP: Playing this game without limiter cuts would be like playing VOOT without dashing. You won't do well and you won't have nearly as much fun as you should.
Having said that, this port was kind of disappointing:
- They did a **** job on the graphical update (looks pretty bad on my 1080p LCD)
- No more Offspring and Bad Religion (although most people got sick of those same 4 songs in the original version... especially my roommates back in the day)
- New voices not as good (could be nostalgia bias on my behalf)
- No more licensed stores (not a big deal - essentially just in-game ads anyway)
Regardless, this will probably be my new obsession. I got up to #15 on the Arcade mode leaderboard last night, which was cool because I've never seen my Gamertag on the first page of any leaderboard before. I'm sure I've dropped quite a bit by now, though.

Re: What are you playing?
I've been replaying my action/hack and slash games to wash away the awful taste that Castlevania Lords of Shadow has left in my mouth. I'm also trying to survive God Hard in Vanquish.

And Phantom is loving NFS a little too much. He even forgot to get Crazy Taxi.

Last I saw he was playing Yu-Gi-Oh, skipping Crazy Taxi entirely. In other words, Phantom is a dirty, dirty liar.shamanic_beat wrote:And Phantom is loving NFS a little too much. He even forgot to get Crazy Taxi.
