Re: why!?
Get some lubricant on those Twin Sticks ASAP! Seriously you don't want them to wear out. I've been using lithium grease from Home Depot for 9 years and it works fine... I still have the original can I bought 9 years ago!

Re: why!?
Yeah I had planned to make such a guide... was going to do it the next time I reapply the grease to my DC Twin Sticks.Knoxximus wrote:Hey Menthol! How about a lithium grease tutorial? You know, like where to apply it, how, and how often. That would be swell! ^_^
But anyway, it's pretty simple. You have to lubricate everywhere moving parts touch each other. Without enough lubricate, the friction builds up and the parts start wearing down, eventually breaking, even from gentle use! This is very common among the first generation DC Twin Sticks. The second gen is better, but I would recommend being careful no matter what version you have.
I'd recommend taking the sticks apart to reapply lubricant, to clean off the dirt and such that increases friction, and to be sure that everything gets lubricated enough. I don't really know how often you should do this, I guess it depends on how much you play. But, if you can detect any stickiness, roughness, or any lack of smoothness, you need to stop using them and reapply lubricant immediately. The lithium grease comes in an aerosol can, costs about $5 at Home Depot, and lasts for years for personal use (I still have the same can I bought in 2000).
Note that the lithium grease takes a few hours to settle for some reason. This is more noticeable with the arcade sticks, though... the first time I did them, I thought I had ruined them since they felt terrible... a couple hours later they were smooth as butter.

It should be fine, try it and see if you like the feel. IIRC, I initially went with lithium grease since it's what an arcade machine operator recommended to me. It works incredibly well on my arcade Twin Sticks, so that's what I stayed with.Dreamcazman wrote:I've got some Tamiya Ball Diff Grease here that I used to use on my RC car. It's a thickish viscous type of silicon grease from what I can work out, would that suffice?
Same stuff as in this photo.

Re: why!?
I'd definitely suggest reapplying lubricant to prevent any damage and result the problems.circuscommando wrote:well it's not stick so much as it's unresponsive, jumping is obnoxiously difficult and response time seems a little slow.
It varies by VR. Did you check if there are any youtube videos using the VR against Tangram? If you post the VR you're using, maybe myself or someone else can give you some specific suggestions.circuscommando wrote:any tips on getting past tangram.

I use Raiden and keep doing side turbo dash and firing a spray of bullets to avoid any incoming projectiles and to keep you facing Tangram. Once she opens up, use the twin lasers which does a crapload of damage.circuscommando wrote:any tips on getting past tangram.
Rinse and repeat.

Re: why!?
As suicidal as it may sound, if you're playing with Apharmd B, go into CC range, or you can't do enough damage.
Essentially the cycle is:
-dash right/left, at the very end of the dash, fire your RW (to make the dash go that little extra further, since the damage won't really be significant), avoiding the initial attacks
-the last two dashes should be forward+right/left, to get you closer to Tangram before Tangram opens up
-Tangram opens up, you should already be at CC range when this happens, hit it ONCE (try twice and you're dead, the laser volley kills you right there) with CC CW
-dash right/left after the first CC CW, dodge the initially laser volley
-there will be a moment of several seconds where Tangram will be open and still in "RED" form, go for an extra CC CW attack, then imediatly start dashing left/right
-Tangram goes into "BLUE" form and fires a laser that makes Raidens cry in their sleep for about 5 seconds
-when this laser is going, you should be doing a forward+right/left dash to get yourself BEHIND Tangram
-wait for Tangram to finish doing the laser and it'll turn to "RED" form once more, this is the moment you hit it with 3 CC CW attacks
If you did this all correctly, Tangram goes boom in just a single attack cycle.
If it didn't die after all of that, you only have enough time for a second attack cycle and apply those guidelines for Apharmd B again, otherwise time's up after that and you lose even if you have more HP left than Tangram.
Hope that helped in case you try to tackle Tangram with APB.

Re: why!?
ok, i've got a pair of saturn sticks, i removed all the screws on the underside (i have 3in1 multipurpose oil) but then what do i do? i'm not sure how to remove the underplate, or what else i should unscrew.
imagine teaching a 2 year old how to read, i need that level of easiness/step by step.
thanks guys!
