Hi, everyone. I'm asking this around just in case someone ever tried this. I happen to own the original Dreamcast VS Link cable and I'm looking forward to mod some Dremcast consoles and put GDEMU on them.
I have two VA0 though and I was thinking that maybe I could put inside them the G1 ATA/IDE adapter available on Aliexpress with a small SSD to load Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram and link it to my VA1 with GDEMU. An alternative is a resistor mod to protect the original GDEMU though I've also read that the chinese copies have better regulators to deal with VA0 consoles that are more common in Asia.
I wonder if it will de-sync? Is this a thing? Has anyone ever tried this or has some experience with system linking Dreamcasts on Virtual-On?
Or maybe GD-ROM+GDEMU? Or any system link experiences at all? I know that PlayStation 2 iLink (FireWire S400) de-syncs if the bus is not the same (DVD/IDE/USB/MX4SIO). I'm modding my sticks out of the Dreamcast controller to X360 but I'm about to try this before doing so.

Re: Will it blend? Mixing GDEMU and G1 ATA on serial VS Link (system link)
I know this is an old topic, but I just tried this with two VA1 consoles: 1 has a GDEMU running a GDI dump of VO:OT, and the other was running a burned, CDI selfboot copy. They were able to get into the menus but desynced immediately when starting the game. The solution was to pop the CDI selfboot copy on the GDEMU- after that, it worked fine.
