As you may or may not know, the ancient PC port of VOOM is hard to find, and harder to get working right, especially on modern systems. However, I found a website where someone had been taking various Saturn PC ports and giving them bugfixes and updates to run on modern systems. As it turns out, Virtual-On is one of them.

He has pretty clear installation instructions available, which makes this pretty much impossible to screw up. Now there's no excuse not to play the original VO, since a toaster from 2004 can run it pretty fine.
I've gotten a twinstick-ish setup with a dual analog controller and joy2key (ran in admin mode, otherwise it won't work), but I can't get the game out of fullscreen. No idea if we can use the netplay, but it would be pretty fun if we could. Game also has a debug mode so you can set it to run at 60fps.

I've spoken to the guy who made this a few times via youtube comments. Even if the native netplay doesn't work, he has a Hamachi group open for matches.
I'm still interested in testing the Model2 emulator's netplay functions, but if this installer's version actually fixes crashing and whatnot, that's awesome.

To my knowledge no one has tried to do this sort of thing, though it would be great, not just to change the VR data but simply to see what it is. I wanted to try this eventually but the release of Magical Index Virtual-On has delayed my plans by several years, and it's looking like it will never get done.
