Game update (Nov 24)

Post by shamanic_beat »

Anyone figured out what it actually does? Match making? Small bug fix? Preparation for Hori Sticks?

Today's official VOOT 360 Column update doesn't appear to have any specific info about a patch. The post opens with mention of doing a "bug check"... maybe that is referring to the patch containing bug fixes?

One of the developers will be playing using the gamertag "SEGA VOOT360" on Thursday at 8PM JST (3AM PST), so maybe we can get a party going on Wednesday night / early Thursday morning to challenge him.

Also interesting is that they acknowledge the demand for a Force port. Is this a hint that the Hori Twin Sticks will soon have another compatible game?

Word on the street was that the director of this port was working on another XBLA game, VOOT is already the 2nd-best selling XBLA title in Japan to date, and Force never really had a proper port in the first place, so it's not unreasonable to expect it somewhere down the line.

I'd prefer a brand new game, though.

Does this speak towards the popularity of VOOT or the unpopularity of XBLA in Japan? What's #1, btw?

Are many of the original developers still around? Either way, I'd be cautiously excited if a new game was announced.

The latest patch might have added native Twin Stick support (pic from gokiburi):

I submitted that news to kotaku. There seems to interest in the game, but many didn't even know it is available for XBLA much less know that people still play it. Let's go there to post comments and our VOOT youtube tournament videos, not to mention redirect them to this site to play games with us in the future. Tell them about the monthly online tournament that is free for anyone to enter.

Yeah, it's kinda surprising, but I guess it's an XBL release of a 10-year-old niche title that had literally zero marketing behind it, so it shouldn't be that surprising.

I've been shilling this site on Kotaku for awhile now. Nice to see some extra help coming. :D
