Initial Reaction to VOOT from a VOOM

Post by Some_Nob »

As mentioned before I originally played VOOM exclusively so today is my first try of VOOT. After considerable reading both here and in my VOOM days I had a slight idea in what to expect.

Pace is much the same (to my joy) though CC seems a little different(with the camera zoom). But not too much. Also I have yet to receive my twin sticks and until I do I won't get too serious as I feel I'm trying to relearn the contols that feel should be automatic. There were a few surprise though.

Firstly the freeze times are slight reduced.

Secondly - BBB has legs!!! The floating vacuum cleaner has legs and also can actually melée (originally had a super slow claw that took years to activate).

Though on this note in did play a round against what looked like the original BBB. Can someone explain this and why can't select that VR.

Mirage still works though feels hard trying to hit 3 buttons in quick succession- look foward to end of next week when I can try the setup as it should be.

On note of mirage until I try two player and see view of alternative player -the lessor zoom may make it less practical than in VOOM.

Anyways until next week I'll have to distract my self with the urge to play and look foward to playing with you all (get all mind out of the gutters before you comment) :p

That's Bal-Baros. The reason you can't select it is because it's only available to Bal-Bados in the underwater stage.

Movement in OMG is much slower, but maybe other aspects are similar. For example, rounds/matches can take about the same amount of time.

Hmm, again I haven't fired it up with twin sticks, still waiting on shipping.

You may be right with the movement speed, but i guess im refering to close quarters combat. I notice that a swing with the sword on my fei-yen seems to take longer - could jsut be that she has to slide/move in closer before the swing and that I am also using a gamepad so really have to think what buttons to press.

And yes, only really tested against standard single player game. (still have to work out best way to kill the main boss's as Fei-Yen - could someone tell me how to activate hyper mode rather than waiting to be damaged enough) <- though think i read it in the advance page.

The replays was watching too - Some on youtube remind me of normal play.. but the biggest thing is that freeze times seem noticably shorter, add with air dashes and weapon turbo features... still need to get my head around that and find it noticably tricker to do that while using game pad.

The camera angle does seem a bit different too - shall load up VOOM and VOOT side by side once I get rest of gear to comment on that further.

Though on hind site - it could all just be me getting older and slower (regarding the freeze times) but guess I'll save final comment once I can play like I used too :D

Press the "special" button ("start" on the arcade machine, I believe the default on Xbox 360 is the "back" button).
